A trip down memory lane this weekend, reminiscing with fondness of my youth and were my career all began.
Peterborough will always hold a special place in my heart.. Although it has changed during the passage of time, it still bears the comfort and security of a old friend that welcomes me back after a long absence.
My very first commercial photographic studio still stands on Lincoln Road. It’s transformation into a tattoo studio cannot hide the original paint work that my dad and I laboriously completed over a six month period, to make it into my first pride and joy. Many happy hours were spent there completing commissioned work, including my award winning advertising work.
A trip to Peterborough town square , and the exact place I used to park my second pride and joy , my 750 Suzuki. It was all about the two wheels and spannering late at night in the garage at home with my brother Gary, whilst mum kept us going with bacon butties.
Next stop EMAP……where it all began. I was privileged enough to be able to walk around the EMAP building , treading the floor where I as a 15 year old junior photographer for the various publications, had walking all those years before, unbeknown of the life laid out before him. It was a true joy.
A town full of memories and familiar faces, will always be,as Freddie Mercury sang, These are the days of our lives….
“Sometimes I get a feeling I was back in the old days, long ago when we were kids, when we were young things seem so perfect, you know? The days were endless, we were crazy, we were young the Sun was always shining, we just lived for fun sometimes it seems like lately, I just don’t know the rest of my life’s been, just a show”
